TO ENTER: The contest begins on 22 March 2007 at 12:00 AM Singapore time and ends on 31 May 2007 at 11:59 PM Singapore time. Submissions of scripts, novels or illustrative comics ("contest entry”) must be received no later than the deadline of 11:59 PM on 31 May 2007 in order to be eligible for the Grand Prize of having their story produced into a 30 - 40 minute animation, plus an equivalent of Yen 2 million (approximately USD18,000).

GRAND PRIZE SELECTION: A panel of judges in Japan will select one (1) Grand Prize winner and two (2) alternate winners from the top 12 finalists selected from around Pan Asia to be held at the office of ANIMAX in Tokyo on or about 10:00 AM Tokyo time on 31 August 2007 (date is subject to change). The decision of the judges shall be final and binding on all aspects of the contest.

GRAND PRIZE FOR PARTICIPANTS: The Grand Prize winner’s contest entry will be produced into a 30 minute animation by A-1 Pictures in Japan, plus an equivalent of Yen 2 million (approximately USD18,000).

FINALISTS’ PRIZE SELECTION: A panel of judges will select one (1) Finalist from each of the following territories: South East Asia, the Philippines, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan to be held at the office of ANIMAX in Singapore on or about 10:00 AM Singapore time on 23 July 2007. There will be a total of five (5) Finalists in all of the above territories. "South East Asia” means collectively the following countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. The decisions of the judges shall be final and binding on all aspects of the contest.

FINALISTS’ PRIZE FOR PARTICIPANTS: Each Finalist will receive USD2,000, plus will represent their territory in the Grand Finals and have the opportunity to compete for the Grand Prize.

ONLINE VOTING SELECTION: Viewers can vote in a web poll on www.animaxawards.com from 30 July to 20 August 2007 for their favourite submission from the top 12 finalists from Pan Asia (including 6 finalists from Japan and 1 finalist from Korea). The finalist who wins the web poll will receive a commemorative plaque valued at approximately USD50. If there is a tie for the winner, there will be a drawing to decide the winner which draw will be held at the office of ANIMAX in Los Angeles on or about 10:00 AM Los Angeles time on 24 August 2007. The decision of the judges shall be final and binding on all aspects of the contest.

ONLINE VOTING PRIZE FOR PARTICPANTS: All participants who vote will go into a draw to win an ANIMAX goody bag. There will be 50 winners. The draw will be held at the office of ANIMAX in Los Angeles on or about 10:00 AM Los Angeles time on 24 August 2007. Each prize is worth approximately USD50.

1. Participants must be citizens or legal residents of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, India, Hong Kong or Taiwan.

2. Participants can be of any age. Participants below 18 years old must seek consent from their parent or legal guardian ("Guardian”) prior to participating in the contest. The Guardian of the participant with the winning contest entry must co-sign all agreements that will be required to be signed by the participant.

3. Only works that are original and have not previously been published and/or animated or entered into any prior competitions are eligible for entry in the contest.

4. Employees, agents, branches and promoters (including their immediate family members) of ANIMAX, and its divisions, affiliates and subsidiaries, and others associated with any aspect of this contest, are not permitted to participate in the contest.

5. Employees (including their immediate family members) of SPE Networks – Asia and Sony Pictures Television International, a division of CPT Holdings Inc., their advertising agencies, public relations consultants and any other party involved or associated with any aspect of this contest are not entitled to participate in this contest.

6. Neither SPE Networks – Asia nor Sony Pictures Television International, a division of CPT Holdings Inc., their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, agents, officers, directors or employees shall be liable in any manner whatsoever to the participant or any other party for any loss or damage of whatsoever nature suffered by a participant as a result of participation in this Contest or as a result of any act or omission pertaining thereto.

7. ANIMAX is the sole promoter of this contest.

8. Each participant can submit multiple contest entries.

9. If the contest entry is submitted collectively as a group, only one prize will be awarded to the participants comprising the group who submitted the winning contest entry regardless of how many members are in such group.

10. No purchase is necessary. Participants are responsible for all costs of contest entries, including taxes.

11. ANIMAX and its agents, affiliates and/or representatives are not responsible for any loss of contest entries due to any problems caused by telephone lines, systems or internet service providers, or postal or other delivery services, for contest entries submitted (including any received after the deadline as a consequence of telephone or internet service or postage delays, interruptions, failures or overloads, or for lost, stolen, misdirected, misplaced or postage-due contest entries). Contest entries are void if unreadable, inaccurate, incomplete, damaged, mutilated, tampered with, falsified, mechanically reproduced, irregular in any way or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Contest Rules.

12. By sending a contest entry and therefore participating in the contest, each participant agrees to follow these Official Contest Rules and be bound by any decisions made by ANIMAX, including any interpretations of these Official Contest Rules.

13. Each prize winner will be informed by telephone or email. Each prize winner must confirm acceptance of their prize immediately with ANIMAX upon such initial contact if by telephone or upon receipt of ANIMAX’s email and in any event within three (3) working days of such initial contact or the date ANIMAX’s email was sent, whichever is earlier. If ANIMAX does not receive an answer from a prize winner within three (3) working days after initial contact is made by ANIMAX by telephone or the date ANIMAX’s email was sent, whichever is earlier, except when such period is extended pursuant to local law or ANIMAX’s sole discretion, such prize winner will be disqualified. If a Prize winner is disqualified for this or any other reason, such as being found ineligible or failing to comply with these Official Contest Rules, then the first alternate will receive such prize instead, as will each of the subsequent alternates until all prizes have been distributed. If a prize remains unclaimed, a second judging will be conducted following procedures identical to the initial judging. ANIMAX and its agents, affiliates and/or representatives will use their best efforts to contact prize winners but will not be responsible or liable in any way whatsoever if prize winners cannot be reached by telephone, email or regular mail within the three (3) day period. Winners do not become official until all winning contest entries are validated by ANIMAX. All decisions of ANIMAX are final and irrevocable.

14. ANIMAX and contest sponsors are responsible for all prizes listed above. No other parties, including without limitation, Sony Corporation, Sony Corporation of America, Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., CPT Holdings, Inc. and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, agencies and branches, shall be responsible for any prizes.

15. There may be no Grand Prize winner selected at ANIMAX’s discretion and ANIMAX may choose to work with a production studio other than A-1 Pictures in its sole discretion.

16. Except for the prizes themselves, all other costs, including additional software, tools, options or upgrades, incidental costs and taxes, are the responsibility of each prize winner. ANIMAX and contest sponsors do not cover any other costs.

17. Prizes cannot be transferred, negotiated or exchanged. Only a prize winner and not any other person or agent, may claim a prize. Where a prize winner is below 18 years old, his/her Guardian may claim a prize on his/her behalf. Prize winner or Guardian will need to present documentary proof of identification to collect prize.

18. As a condition for accepting a prize, prize winners will be required to:

    18.1 assign all rights, title and interest in and to any and all copyright and all other intellectual property rights in and to such prize winner’s contest entry material to ANIMAX absolutely, including the right to use, adapt, translate, publish and otherwise exploit such materials or any portion thereof, in any and all media (now known or hereafter devised), and by any electronic or any other means (now known or hereafter devised); and

    18.2 waive all its moral rights in the contest entry material which the prize winner is or may be entitled to; and

    18.3 waive the right to sue for damages and other remedies in respect of any copyright infringement which may have occurred prior to the date of receipt of the prize; and

    18.4 consent to ANIMAX’s right to picture, tape or portray them as contest winners, use their likeness and to use any photographs, recordings, images and/or film footage which their likeness may appear in, throughout the world (this includes exhibiting their likeness in movies, radio, television or print media) without any compensation whatsoever for advertising and publicity purposes, except where prohibited by law; and

    18.5 consent to ANIMAX’s right to use their name, voice or picture, or the content of their entries.

    18.6 For all prize winners below 18 years old, both the prize winner and his/her Guardian shall be required to sign such ANIMAX-prescribed forms required for the compliance with the above conditions.

19. Participants release ANIMAX and its divisions, affiliates, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees and agents, including without limitation, Sony Corporation, Sony Corporation of America, Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., CPT Holdings, Inc. and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, agencies and branches, as well as all contest sponsors and all others associated with the development and execution of this contest, from and against any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from this contest and the awarding and use, misuse or possession of any prizes, including liability for personal injury, except where prohibited or limited by law.

20. In addition to the conditions set out in 18 above which also apply to a Grand Prize winner, awarding of each Grand Prize shall be conditioned upon each Grand Prize winner signing an Indemnity and Release of Claims form provided by ANIMAX, which shall release ANIMAX of all liability, subject to any mandatory laws prohibiting or restricting such release, and an Assignment Agreement granting all rights, title and interest in and to the contest entry materials and any production associated therewith or derived therefrom, including the right to use, adapt, translate, publish and otherwise exploit the contest entry materials or any portion thereof, in any and all media (now known or hereafter devised), and by any electronic or any other means (now known or hereafter devised).
